Astrology is a pseudo science based on the belief that human behaviour and events on earth are influenced by the stars. It is not to be confused with astronomy which is the scientific study of stars, planets and other heavenly objects. Astrologers believe that by studying the positions of the stars and planets, they can predict events and even the success or failure of any considered task.

During the ancient times, no distinction was made between astrology and astronomy. Earth was regarded as the center of the universe and the stars being supernatural beings endowed with personal characteristics of gods and goddesses. Their movements and activities were seen as divine actions which have to be interpreted by man to know the will of the gods. It was only during the 18th century that the science of astronomy became completely separate from astrology.
